From the Baltic coast of Kaliningrad to the Pacific shores of Vladivostok, Russia stretches across 11 time zones and over 190 ethnic groups. Within a few hours of flight, you can find yourself in a different climate, surrounded by different nature, hear other languages, and meet people (→ People) whose traditions have been shaped for centuries.
For some, Russia begins with Red Square and Moscow. For others – with the endless taiga of Siberia, the volcanoes of Kamchatka, the ancient towns of the Golden Ring, or modern universities where students from all over the world come to study. Some know only the “Russian spirit” virtually – through books, art, or the internet.
Too often, people try to explain Russia through statistics, news, or political events. But you cannot understand the country that way. The real Russia reveals itself through people, places, everyday life, and personal experience. And for each person, it is different – unique and unrepeatable.
